What about Snuggles' puppies?

After reading our December 26, 1999 print newsletter many people wrote (and/or called) asking what happened to Snuggles' puppies. Sorry we didn't explain. Knowing ourselves they were all ok, we neglected to fill you in.

For a quick update: Our neighbor called us a couple of months ago wanting us to take a stray mommy dog and her six cute (but "uncatchable") puppies that were then 10 weeks old.

We were full, but we suggested the neighbor call our local county animal shelter to help her catch the pups, and we took the mommy dog because she was sick. For the next several weeks after having taken the mommy dog (who has now joined our Happy Home for Strays and has now been treated for heartworms and is fine and healthy) I checked often with the neighbor about the puppies. To sum up the story of the pups: The women from the shelter had assured our neighbor that they would find good homes for the pups. The little fluffy, white pups were so adorable the women said they would be very easy to adopt out to good homes.

The neighbor told me that the women from the shelter came out and set up a small fenced area with a gate, which they left open, and everyday the women would come and put food in the fenced area so the pups would get used to eating there. Then one day, when all the pups were eating, the women closed the gate, and they were able to pick up the six little fellas and take them to their shelter for adoption. I felt confident they would find good homes.

No more puppies! No more kittens!

Until all the dogs (and all the cats) now alive find good homes, let us allow that no more be conceived!

Please help us get this message across to the millions of unaware Americans who continue to allow their pets to procreate!

If we can get everyone to spay and neuter their pets, the overpopulation problem will go away, and no more healthy, young companion animals will ever again be killed simply because there aren't enough homes available to adopt them.

Former Stray Dogs for Adoption

As always, complete financial records are available upon request.

Dog food, veterinary expenses and kennel crew wages have been running over $1,800 per week, and we are quite often literally paying this week's expenses with this week's donations. We, Pat and Bill Arnold, receive no remuneration whatsoever for any work we do for our no-kill shelter, which includes managing it. (Bill pays our bills from his salary from his regular job in Dallas.)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We continue to thank those who continue to write us such encouraging letters and e-mail messages letting us know that you believe in what we are doing at Straydog (our Happy Home for Strays) as we continue to provide a decent life (as long as may be necessary) for each of our now 49 rescued dogs!

Please take a look at some of our newsletters (click on links at end of page) and see the original article in The Dallas Morning News --on the Internet at "dallasnews.com/archives" (search for Pat Arnold on March 13, 1997).
