MONDAY DECEMBER 11 2000 Julie goes for surgery to remove the tumor on her eyelid
By 8:15 this morning Julie ("our" wonderful six-year-old Greyhound mix) and I were at the vet clinic, where she was due for surgery to remove the tumor on her eyelid. Dr. Stephen said I could pick Julie up tomorrow morning. They will have the results of the biopsy in 10 days. We ask you all to pray with us that the tumor is not malignant.
TUESDAY DECEMBER 12 2000 Julie comes home from clinic
I wanted to get off to an early start to pick up Julie from the clinic this icy cold morning because the forecast was calling for freezing rain and sleet today, and the dark gray sky didn't make the morning look like the forecasters were wrong this time.
Julie was happy to see me when I picked her up at the clinic, and soon we were back "home" again and she was cozy and warm in her house kennel. She needs to stay quiet for a week so she will be staying in the house kennel during the cold of the day and night, and when the weather warms up again, she will be able to join her companion, Dallas, in their big kennel.

People often ask why we have had some of the dogs (such as Julie) at our shelter for such a long time. The reason is that Julie is a "special-needs" dog, as are many of the other "old-timers" here at our Happy Home for Strays. We have found that most people do not want dogs who have even minor health problems, and many of our dogs
