Danny Boy is doing okay
Danny (who has a cancerous tumor in his prostate) seems to be making some improvement with his health. He is having better bowel movements, and he seems to be urinating a tiny bit when he tries, tho we still use the catheter on him twice a day.
Danny continues to enjoy his life
This rescued fellow became a house dog (see 9/3/2000 edition via the "SUNDAY UPDATES" link below) after we discovered his tremendous fear of thunder and distant (and not so distant) gunfire, which is somewhat common in remote rural areas. (At times it sounds like we're in a war zone.) Danny resides in one end of our home--the long, white, single-wide trailer in the photo above. Danny has a doggie door which opens to his kennel yard, and this kennel yard is right beside several other adjoining kennels. Danny's favorite activities are still to bark at the early morning dog feeders (Tina, Rhonda, or Randy) as they pass by his kennel to feed his neighboring dog friends. And Danny loves his turns in the big play yard and all the attention he gets from the caregivers, including the treats they slip to him through his fence (supposedly unseen by me) every time they walk by his kennel yard.
Danny still appears to be happy as he goes thru his daily routine. We're watching him very closely.
Jimmy, Dakota and Perry have their first turn in the big play yard!
These three pups are over their kennel cough now, and today was their first day to have a turn to play in the big play yard. What a hilarious sight to see them run and play. As soon as caregivers Rhonda and Michael let the little pups off their leashes, they took off running in all directions, criss-crossing all over the huge, grassy area tremendously excited to have so much room to run and play in. They often ran into each other as they whizzed around the yard grabbing at the many toys spread out on the ground and then dropping the toys to tackle their buddies as they ran by.
Krissy and her two pups are still in quarantine
Soon the newly rescued mother dog, Krissy, and her two male Shepherd mix pups, Pepsi and Pepper, will be able to run around the play yard too.
Vet visit tomorrow
Tomorrow I'm taking Lassie to the vet clinic for a checkup, and I'll be able to visit our newest arrival. Frosty the Husky, who is recovering at the clinic from surgery to repair her leg, which was shattered by a .22 caliber bullet fired by some subhuman monster.
