SATURDAY NOVEMBER 23 2002

Kalli is officially Adopted!

Yea! I just spoke with Susan Devers, our (volunteer) volunteer coordinator as well as a weekly volunteer "dog sitter" at Adoption Day in Dallas. Susan had just made the home visit with Kalli and said that Kalli and the couple's other two Boxers all got along beautifully, instantly! When Susan and another of our regular volunteers, Guy's wife, Kim (along with the couple who were adopting Kalli) arrived at the couple's home, they first took all three dogs to a nearby park for their introduction on leashes, and the dogs all liked each other right away.

After the get-together in the park the home visit was made, and the couple's two dogs accepted Kalli right away. It was beautiful, Susan said, and so is the home and the large fenced yard. Kalli will be a house pet (of course, just as all of our other adopted dogs and pups have become), and quite a pampered pooch she will be from now on!

Kalli deserves this wonderful family, and we are thankful that their hearts went out to her. (See our late August 2002 editions for the story of Kalli's rescue.)

So far, at 1:30 p.m., there have been no more adoptions. We'll fill you in if more exciting news happens during our Adoption Day.

EVENING UPDATE

No other adoptions today, but we're all very happy for Kalli!

We very much appreciate donations directly to our vet clinic to help with our skyrocketing vet bills

Our vet bill has reached the $4,000 mark again, with a lot of the increase due to vet care for new arrival Frosty the Husky, which vet care included the surgery to repair her badly injured leg (shattered by a bullet) plus the two weeks she has been at our vet clinic recovering. Our vet bill has also increased unusually rapidly by the special vet care and treatments Danny Boy has received during the last several weeks as we try to control the poor fella's prostate cancer.

If you would like to help with the vet expenses for both Danny Boy and Frosty, you may send your donations directly to:

Morton Small Animal Clinic
1404 E. Tyler Street
Athens, Tx. 75751

and please make a note on your check that the donation is for Frosty and Danny so they'll be sure to apply your donation to our Straydog account.

As always we thank you, very, very much, for your help.
