health, including putting on some weight. Per our vet Nikki is 20 pounds underweight.
Kimberly is our very newest arrival. On the way home from the successful adoption of Sally and Alice we found this little, frightened, 10-week-old puppy running along a country roadside. She is being treated for sarcoptic and demodectic mange and is also here with us now.
We get calls every day from people who have rescued homeless pups and dogs, wanting us to take the homeless animals. We are almost always full to the brim, but we continue to take in a desperate dog whenever we've adopted one out. The rescue of homeless dogs is not going to end until we get everyone to spay/neuter their pets, controlling population the only humane way--CONCEPTION CONTROL rather than killing.
We just can't thank you enough for your continued support, which makes it possible to continue to rescue and care for the many dogs and puppies who come to our Happy Home for Strays.
Sincerely,
Pat Arnold
P.S. - Also we want to announce that we have adopted out 14 dogs already in 2003, and we continue to have success with adoptions both during our Saturday Adoption Days at various pet supply stores in Dallas and via the Internet. Every adoption opens up a vacant spot in our "lifeboat," and there's immediately another desperate dog (or pup) to fill the vacancy. Unfortunately (financially) every new arrival means another rise in our ever-growing vet bill.
