Betsy is doing okay
Today I went to the vet clinic to check on Betsy, and she is feeling better all the time, the doctor said. The huge amount of swelling around the incision for the surgery to repair her broken leg has finally gone down a lot. The doctor said that Betsy had been chewing at the cast on her leg yesterday afternoon, so he took it off of her for the night, and he was eager to see how she'd do on her leg today, but she is using her broken leg more than she should, and she's lying on it again, so he'll be putting the cast back on today. She looks perkier and happy now, and she is eating okay. The vet tech said that Betsy can get up and around fairly well with the cumbersome cast on when she goes outside for her short walks to take care of business. Dr. Morton wants Betsy to remain as quiet as possible for the next several days, so she'll have to remain at the clinic, and I'll continue to go to visit her. We just want her to be well enough to come "home" before she comes "home."
Davey's health is better, and the fellow needs a friend!
Davey's diarrhea problem has improved, and we can say that he is getting along okay today. This lovable old fellow is very happy and in good spirits. We just have to take it one day at a time with Davey, as he has his good days and his bad days. The other "problem" he has developed is that of barking for attention and companionship! The old fellow needs a friend!
But Davey continues to have no manners at all when he is introduced to female dogs--spayed female dogs. If he'd just behave himself, either Krissy or Heather could become his best friend. They like him, but they don't like his constant "advances" toward them. (It obviously hasn't been long enough since his recent neuter surgery. The doctor warned us that it could take a very long time.)
Davey meets Puppy-Dog Zack
Today in the big play yard we introduced Davey to six-month-old Puppy-Dog Zack, thinking Davey would realize that although Zack wasn't exactly the type of friend he'd like, he could at least have a playful male puppy-dog friend to become his kennel companion. They got along okay, but Davey wasn't interested at all in having a little puppy-dog for a friend, and Little Zack wanted to play, and Davey didn't, so we put them back in their own kennels again. We'll probably get them together everyday for a while so see if Davey catches on that Zack could become a friendly companion for him.
