City of Dallas Animal Control will help with rescue of "golf course" strays

I got further info from Pam about where the dogs hang out, and she and I both managed to get through to Animal Control after first calling the SPCA. (Neither of us knew the other was calling.) I talked to a very helpful person who said they knew about the dogs from Pam's recent call, and they will be out to catch the dogs.

I told the woman that we have a place for the dogs, and we will come and pick them up as soon as they are brought in, so please hold them until we can get there, and she assured me that they would.

Hopefully Animal Control will be able to catch all four of the dogs, and we can get the injured fellows immediate medical attention, as well as the other two dogs also. As soon as we get the call from Animal Control, Guy will be on his way (morning, noon or night) to pick up the dogs.

      We'll keep you posted.

YEA! Davey has a friend and kennel mate!

Heather has become Davey's kennel companion! We tried introducing these two fellas again today, and this time Davey was a perfect gentleman, behaving himself beautifully. (The testosterone must have worked its way out of Davey since his neutering.) Heather was being the bouncy, rambunctious one, wanting to play with Davey. When we saw that they both got along, we put the two of them in Davey's kennel, and now they both are happy!

Heather and Davey are kenneling together now and are getting along fine.

Bear gets his yearly vaccinations, and I check on Betsy at the clinic

This morning I needed to take Bear to the clinic for his yearly vaccinations, and I also wanted to see Betsy (before making all the above phone calls to find help with the rescue of the "golf course" dog family). Since we had to wait for the doctor to finish up with another patient, the receptionist kept sweet fellow, Bear, with her at the front desk while I made my way back to Betsy's kennel.

Betsy was happy to see me. She was lying on her blanket but wagged her tail and lifted her head when I went inside her kennel. Her full bowl of food had been untouched so I offered her a little of it from my hands and she lifted her head to eat. I hand-fed her until she wanted no more, and she laid her head back down. I stayed with her for a while until the doctor was ready to see Bear.

Bear is in find shape! He received his yearly vaccinations and check up and passed with flying colors.

Then Bear and I came home, and I got on the phone making more calls about the Lab "golf course" family. We are praying that the Dallas Animal Control with their dog catching experience will be able to catch all four of the dogs.

We'll report more as we know more.
