Good news and fair news about the "golf course stray dog family"
EVENING UPDATE
Pam and I have been in close touch all day today about the family of stray dogs who live on a golf course in Dallas. And Pam has been in touch with just about everyone she can find who has anything to do with Animal Control in the Dallas area to try and find out how the rescue is going.
The morning went by with no news from Animal Control, actually no news from anyone concerning the dogs, but by afternoon things began to happen.
The good news:
Pam, who was at her regular job all day today, said she'd heard early this afternoon that Animal Control had gone out in search of the dogs, and the good news is that the father dog was seen with the other three members of his dog family! This was such a relief to us because the father had been hit by a car two days ago, and his back leg had been terribly injured, and he hadn't been seen since.
The not-so-good news:
The other news is that when Animal Control found all four dogs together, the animal control people had their sedative "dart guns" with them, and they were almost able to "dart" the father and the mother dog. A friend of Pams, who had watched the near capture of the dogs, said that the dart aimed at the father and mother dogs just narrowly missed their targets by falling off the thick fur of the mother and possibly just grazing the father.
It was getting late in the day by then, so when that dart attempt failed, it appears that the "rescue mission" was called off.
Many people now know of the attempted rescue of this family of dogs, and I was told that Larry Powell, columnist for The Dallas Morning News, may have even put a call into Animal Control to check up on how the rescue was going. That'd be great!
We want to thank all of you who have called or emailed Pam and me, showing your concern over the safe rescue and well-being of these injured and unwanted dogs and pups.
We thank those of you who called offering the use of your humane bait traps.
We are praying that the injured dogs will be rescued soon, as well as the others in this family, so we can get them all immediate medical attention.
Thank you all for caring.
Potty outings occasionally happen in the middle of the night--even on cold, rainy nights!
