The rescue mission for the remaining two dogs goes on

Not to be able to rescue all four members of the stray dog family who have been long-time strays at Tenison Golf Course in Dallas has been heartbreaking and so frustrating to all of us involved. Through weeks of rescue efforts on Pam's part and then our being involved for the past two or three weeks, we have rescued the one son, eight-month-old Jesse-Bear, and his mother, Laura, and they are in a kennel together now here at our shelter. As most of you know, the mother dog is very sick with heartworm disease, but she seems much better after two days here at Straydog reunited with her son. Rescue efforts have failed several more times trying to catch/rescue the injured father dog and the other sibling.

Rescue efforts continue this afternoon

To those of you who've called or emailed asking if we've rescued the father and Jesse-Bear's sibling, the answer is still no, not yet. Guy and Joel, employees of our shelter, volunteered to go to the golf course (unpaid) again this afternoon to help Pam and members of Dallas Animal Control try to catch the two remaining dogs. It's 5:30 p.m. now and I've heard no word from Guy or Joel, so it looks as if the dogs have "escaped" rescue yet one more time. Knowing Guy and Joel, tho, I have a feeling they will be out searching for the dogs until dark.

Jesse-Bear and his mother, Mama Dog Laura, are doing fine

It looks as if Mama Dog Laura is feeling good today. She's had a very good appetite both today and yesterday, and I've been able to pet her several times. Her son, Jesse-Bear, continues to warm up a little bit more to everyone here. Jesse and Laura are so happy to be together.

The three pups who joined us yesterday are doing fine

The little Aussie pups, Terry and Tina, are sweet as can be.

Terry is being held by Caregiver Joel and Tina is in the arms of Caregiver Tina

Tiny Pup Corky has been in to play with the Aussies a few times today for short periods of supervised play--supervised because the bigger puppies are still too rough with the smaller fellow.

Pat introduces Corky (whose mange is now under control) to Aussie Pup Terry, who looks a lot like Puppy Lucky.

Four dogs/pups go to the vet today

The Lab puppies, Chubs and Cassie, went for their final set of puppy vaccinations this morning, along with older dog, Julie, who is diabetic. Julie needed to see the doctor for a blood test to check her blood sugar level. Little Leo, the son of Blind Mommy Dog Freckles, was scheduled for his neuter operation, so I left him there at the clinic. Later I called and learned that Leo had had the operation and is doing fine.

If you would like to help with our ever-growing vet bill, donations can be sent to:

or directly to our vet clinic:

[Please note to the clinic that your donation is to be applied to the Straydog Inc. account]

We thank you very much for your help and continued support.

Evening update on today's rescue effort at Tenison Golf Course in Dallas

As it got dark, Guy called to say that they had not been able to capture/rescue the father, who is badly injured, or Jesse-Bear's sibling, who is also limping now, and Guy and Joel (who both volunteered their time today) are on their way back home.

Right now we don't know what the next step will be.
