FRIDAY MARCH 28 2003

Puppy Kimberly is doing much better today

Whatever Kimmy had, it must have been just an overnight illness. She's fine today.

Every minute we can spare today we're working on mailing the April Newsletter

(from which link you or any printing company or copy center can print copies. Please print or have printed a bunch of copies and distribute them to your dog-loving acquaintances.)

Stuffing and sealing envelopes and then adding a label and a stamp to each envelope is a very time-consuming endeavor. Several hundred mailers will be in the mail before the post office closes this evening. Back to work on the mailer. Probably no further updates today unless something big happens. ...

Something Big did happen!

Nina donates a lawn mower!

Riding Lawn Mower is Donated to Straydog!

This is sure a dream come true for our Happy Home for Strays. Nina, a long-time friend and contributor of Straydog (and mom of the two dogs she adopted from us), donated the money today to our shelter for a riding lawn mower, so we can do our own mowing, which will save Straydog a lot of money every summer--not having to hire the mowing done.

Guy, our General Manager, goes to pick out the mower

Guy and his wife, Kim, did a lot of searching in the area to find the best mower they could get with the donated money, and Guy went to pick up the mower this afternoon. It's just what we need!

We were all pretty excited about finally having our own riding lawn mower now, and when Guy arrived back at the shelter, he and Michael (caregiver and kennel team member) unloaded the mower so Guy could begin to cut the tall grass around the kennels and in the big play yard.

      Thank you, very much, Nina!

Caregiver/Kennel Team Member Michael helps Guy unload the mower from Guy's truck.

Guy thanks heaven for this long-needed piece of machinery, which will save Straydog lots of money.

It's early evening (as you can tell from the shadow of Guy and the mower), and Guy will mow till dark.

Guy mows the big play yard.
