Rosie goes to the park for the first time, leaving her eight kids "at home"
Rosie is the young Black Lab mix who came to our shelter with her eight little babies on March 17th. Now that she is out of quarantine (all new arrivals are in quarantine for two weeks) today was her first time to go to the big play yard for a turn to run and play! She had a great time!
Pretty soon all of Rosie's eight pups will be able to go to the play yard too. Getting these rolly-poly pups to the play yard will be the easy part, catching them again to get them back to their kennel will be another story!

The rescue attempt of "Lucy" fails again
Lucy, the remaining dog of this family of four, is still "at large" at the golf course in Dallas.
We've been trying to help Pam Mitchell catch this family of four dogs for quite some time now. The mother, Mama Dog Laura, and her son, Jesse-Bear, have been rescued and are here with us. The father dog was hit and killed by a car two weeks ago, and Lucy is the one still on the loose.
Guy, our General Manager, is the one who took the "flying leap" to grab the mother dog which resulted in her rescue a month ago (on March 2nd), but the mother was easier to catch because she was so sick, and because she was so sick she moved much slower than Lucy, who is full of energy. Jesse had been caught in the live bait trap back in February.
Rescue attempts continue for Lucy
The rescue attempts continue to go on, using every form of rescue idea imaginable, and we've tried them all--just too many to list here!
Yesterday Guy and Pam spent nearly 12 hours searching for Lucy, almost catching her once before losing sight of her again, and they finally called it a day around seven p.m.
Rain, thunder and lightening doesn't stop the rescue mission today
Today the threat of bad weather didn't stop Guy and Pam from trying again, but Lucy was on to them now (due to so many of these rescue attempts), and she played "peek-a-boo" with them for a while in the rain, then disappeared and stayed out of sight for the rest of the day.
Lucy can have a rest from the search/rescue missions for a while. Maybe she'll go back to her old feeding spots, get comfortably "off guard," and maybe, if Pam feeds her less food, Lucy will even venture into the live bait trap for the juicy hamburger that will be placed there just for her. We hope so.
Adoption Day will be at Petsmart store in Plano, Texas on Central at Parker
We'll be taking beautiful 10-week-old, Aussie Pup Tina, adorable little black mix, Corky, pretty little, black Puppy-Dog Brigitte, handsome Border Collie, Billy, and sweet young Shepherd Puppy-Dog Pepsi.
Rosie's cute little six-week-old puppies are available for adoption now--directly from our shelter. When they have had several of their series of puppy vaccinations, they will also go to our Saturday Adoption Days in Dallas.
If you'd like to come and see Rosie's sons, Rex, Ricky, Pebbles, Rudy and Benny, or Rosie's daughters, Tiffany, Star and Gizmo, please call me (Pat) for an appointment at 903-479-3497.
Thanks for your kind words about Snowflake
I'd like to thank all of you who emailed or called with your condolences over the loss of little old Granny Dog Snowflake. Your kind words have meant a lot to us, just as they did over the loss of Danny Boy and Ol Davey.
