It's monthly Heartworm Pill Day
On the 15th of each month it's time to give the monthly heartworm preventive tabs to each dog and puppy-dog at our shelter, which averages around $500 every month for the pills. The pills didn't arrive till today, so we're a couple of days late, which is okay per our vet.
Before the second mealtime today Caregiver Tina was busy opening all 65+ Sentinel Heartworm Preventive tabs, getting them ready to add to all the dogs' food bowls.

Tina's checking the list of dogs to make sure that we have the correct number of pills of each size to match up with the appropriate dogs in the various weight divisions.

It is so much easier (and less expensive) to prevent heartworm disease from ever happening in the first place than it is to have a dog go through the treatment once she or he has the disease, and if the dog doesn't go through the treatment, she or he will die. So making sure the dogs take the prescribed heartworm preventive tabs is a very wise thing to do. And we again thank our contributors very much for making it possible for us to pay for these sorts of wise things for dogs.
Puppies Jack and Jill are doing fine!
We've received many email messages asking how the new Aussie pups are doing, and they are just as playful and happy as little puppies can be. For these little fellas to be deaf and nearly blind (Jill has some sight for sure and Bill thinks Jack may have a little sight) makes it even more amazing that they behave like normal, happy puppies.
