Alice continues to panic during storms

Right after the update about Alice being so afraid of thunderstorms (see the May 6th edition via a link below), a follower of our website sent an email telling us of a natural remedy that helps to calm nervous dogs during storms. We'd like to try anything to help Alice (other than strong, prescribed sedatives, if possible), but I just haven't had the time to find this natural remedy in the mail order dog catalogs or on the Internet, and last night sweet Alice had to go through another terrible, booming loud thunder storm, and today her paw is hurting.

Alice's injury no doubt came from her pawing at the kennel fence (which kennel is now triple-secured). I could find no cuts on her paw, but we could see where she'd scraped her foot. I may have forgotten to listen to the weather report right before bed, but I had no idea that the storm was coming, or that it would be so bad when it did hit sometime after midnight.

What is sad, in a way, is that during yesterday's Adoption Day, a couple came to look at the dogs, and almost adopted Alice along with her best buddy, Sally. The couple wanted to think about the adoption for several days, tho, which is good, but how wonderful it would have been, especially for Alice, if she had been able to spend the night in her new home, feeling safe with her new mom and dad last night during the storm.

Alice hurt at least one of her front paws probably scratching at the fence during last night's thunderstorm.

Now Alice holds up her right paw (and sticks her tongue out at us).
