Rain and thunderstorms followed by blue skies and hot sun followed by more storms

What a day! There was a big storm during the early morning hours before dawn. Then we were hit by another storm with hard rain, plus marble-size hail, plus lots of lightning and thunder lasting from about 8:30 till 10 a.m. Soon after that storm ended, the sun came out, the sky turned blue, and it got hot for several hours. Then about 3:30 this afternoon the sky clouded up again and we had another thunder and lightning storm lasting till almost six. And the weather radio says we'll probably get more storms tonight and tomorrow.

The regular dog-care and kennel-cleaning routines were followed throughout the day except for the short intervals when there was a lot of lightning. After the periods of lightning would pass, everyone was back out in the kennels making sure the water was draining and filling in wash-away ruts along the baseline of the kennel fences.

During the bad portions of the storm most of the dogs stayed hidden in their dog houses inside the small shelter buildings. Shannon, who was covering an afternoon-rounds-caregiver shift, reported that Sunny stayed out in the rain and chewed on her bone during Shannon's time in Sunny and Teddy's kennel. And Will reported that all the dogs seemed very agitated and constantly stared at the dark clouds before the late afternoon storm started.

Hail covers the ramp (now Emily's ramp) leading from the kitchen to the path below leading to the big play yard.

Water's pouring down the drain out of Jack and Jill's kennel.

All the dogs are in their shelters as the rain continues to pour down.
