Four dogs go to the vets today

Rosie's now big pups, Benny, Rex and Rudy, were all neutered today. Everything went fine, and they are spending the night at the clinic just to be safe. They will be ready to come back to Straydog tomorrow.

Ten-year-old Rocky had blood work and x-rays because of a cough he's had for a while that won't go away. Both tests came back fine. His lungs were clear, and his heart looked great, and he does not have heartworms (which he shouldn't have because he's always been on heartworm preventive). Dr. Morton thought maybe it could be a hole (due to a bad tooth) going up into his nasal cavity. Rocky has always had pretty bad teeth, so Dr. Morton will clean them tomorrow and investigate. Hopefully the doctor will figure out the problem (and a solution) tomorrow.

Thursday we will pick up the three pups and Rocky.

Alice and Sally escape from their kennel thru their drain hole

About noon today all the dogs suddenly began their "ESCAPE!" bark in chorus, and a caregiver shouted over the walkie-talkie, "Alice and Sally are loose!" The pair were "terrorizing" the kennel compound, having a grand time running full speed in all directions at once it seemed until they finally came running up to Shannon, and she grabbed them and held Alice while I held Sally until Tina came running over to us with a couple of leashes.

The two escapees came to Shannon, and we got them leashed up.

Tina and Shannnon walked them back to their kennel, and after the escape hole was filled, everyone got back to work.

Tonight Guy and Will (one of our newest kennel team members) are going to the house of a friend of Will's, who has a bunch of old cement blocks he wants to get rid of and donate to Straydog, which will come in handy to fill escape holes.

Annie and Amy are doing fine in their new home

We received the following email today from Annie and Amy's new mom:

Just wanted to give you all an update on our new puppies. Annie is still a little shy but is coming around. She finally got enough courage to come join her sister when the kids were out back. We can't seem to get her to come out from under the deck. Amy has kept an eye on her and even tried to reassure her that it was OK. Amy on the other hand is a very happy puppy. She loves to play and chase Adam. We put a small pool out yesterday, and she loved it!!! We will be moving them inside the house this weekend (if Annie will let us) and start training them. We are very happy with these two puppies and could not ask for a better set. We will be taking them on their first camping trip with us over the 4th.

Just want to thank you for such wonderful puppies and to let you know they are doing well.
