No adoptions today

Very, very slow was the report from PetsMart

The desperate puppies coming from the Oklahoma/Texas border are a no show

We were expecting calls from Karen, the woman who was to bring the pups to our clinic in Athens (Texas), but we've heard nothing. We tried calling her several times and could only leave messages. We'll report more when we know more. (This is not the first time that this sort of thing has happened.) Hopefully the pups are all safe somewhere.

Bobby's back home and doing okay (so far) in his kitchen kennel

A Report from Shannon

I arrived at Dallas Veterinary Surgery Center at 10:15 to pick up Bobby and had to wait for a short time for Bobby's post-operation conference. The doctor told me that Bobby had urinated all over his bandage, and they had replaced it just in time for Bobby to urinate on it again. That's when the doctor decided Bobby could go without a bandage. He said it's really not crucial, and that we would just have to keep replacing it every time he went to the bathroom.

The only problem is that his leg is oozing a little bit of blood. It should stop by the morning, and we've been applying warm compresses.

When Bobby saw me, he urinated yet again, and then he actually walked to the car! It was wonderful that I didn't have to carry him, and he sure seemed glad to be going home.

Bobby's been fine in his house kennel, but he won't go for walks without his family. As soon as we get him to the park (the big play yard), he stays at the gate and won't budge. It looks like his mom and his sister, Brier, will have to go to the park every time Bobby goes--at least until he gets used to his potty trips.

Bobby, very apprehensive about his new situation, waits by the park gate wanting to back to his kennel.

Bobby refuses to walk back to the house, so finally Will has to carry Bobby.

Shannon spends some time in Bobby's kitchen kennel with him to try to get him used to his new quarters, where he'll have to stay for the next 11 weeks.
