A successful Adoption Day at PetsMart in Plano
Guy's wife, Kim, who volunteers every Saturday to accompany and help Guy and the other volunteers at Adoption Day, reported that Banjo, the newly named black terrier puppy, went to a wonderful home with two little girls to play with and care for Banjo. We're sure he's going to be very happy. They did a lot of looking around before choosing Banjo. He's going to be an indoor puppy and he has a nine-foot fenced yard to frolic in with lots of shade. The mom and dad work separate shifts, so an adult can be home with the puppy at all times.
The little brown puppy's new name is Sport. He went to a beautiful home with two children also. Sport will be an inside dog but has a large fenced-in yard, both at their regular home and at their farmhouse!
We have home visits scheduled tomorrow (Sunday) for the other three puppies of the Oklahoma/Texas border litter.
Someone is thinking about Tinkerbell and will be looking at photos of her on this website.
Puppy Pierce will be out of our normal two-week quarantine period soon, and he will also be ready to go to Adoption Day next Saturday.
Julie goes to the vet this morning for yet another glucose test
Julie's glucose count was 89 today, which put her into the normal range. Apparently her digestive enzymes are working with the help of the pancreatic enzyme supplement powder we started Julie on yesterday, enabling the natural sugar (from her food) to be absorbed into her body. Yea for Julie!
Katie's doing fine at the clinic
When Juana took Julie in to the clinic this morning, she checked on Katie, who's very much enjoying the air-conditioning. Also the vet tech told Juana that Katie ate a whole can of dog food for breakfast. When we pick her up Monday, she will be sporting the shaved poodle cut we gave her last summer, and we're going to keep the beautiful old dog in a crate inside at least during the day till the weather cools down.
Max passes a lot of blood, and we call the vet
We called the clinic and were told that it sounded like the same thing (colitis) April had had the week before and that we should just give Max some of April's medicine.
Alice has to have her tail bandaged
Alice is STILL getting at and chewing on the tip of her tail--even with her E-collar on. We decided today to apply a bandage after cleaning her wound. We also tightened her E-collar even more. She is just determined to get at her tail, trying to chew it off!

Jack and Jill dig in deep to get some sleep
Jack and Jill are so amazing! It's hard to believe that these nearly blind and totally deaf babies are so smart! Because their sense of feel is one of their strongest assets, these two pups easily discovered that when they dig down at least a foot, they find natural air conditioning. This afternoon we snapped these photos of Jill sleeping deep down in a hole with Jack slept beside his sister near ground level.
