FRIDAY JULY 25 2003
Julie, Pierce and Anthony go to the vet today
Julie

Julie got her blood sugar level tested again today, and it's 169, still within the stable range. Dr. Morton is very pleased, and we are to continue the pancreatic enzymes supplement added to her food, which helps predigest the natural sugars in her food. Julie seems just fine, and we're continuing to keep her in the living room kennel most of the time.
Pierce

Pierce got his second puppy shots today, and he's ready for Adoption Day tomorrow. Pierce is a blue Heeler mix and is one of the cutest pups you'll ever see.
Anthony

It's been two weeks since Dr. Morton first looked at the sore in Anthony's mouth, and the tumor has grown. The biopsy taken and tested two weeks ago did not definitively indicate cancer, but the rapid growth since the biopsy is making Dr. Morton think that it may well be cancer. Today Dr. Morton took an x-ray, which shows the tumor has grown. He also did another biopsy and will send it to a different lab to see what they think. If it is a malignancy, we will have to have a couple of inches of Anthony's lower jaw removed and hope the cancer hasn't already spread past that point. Dr. Morton has seen many cases of this type of cancer, and if he can get it before it has spread, he thinks Anthony will have a pretty good chance of continuing to live for quite some time. We are all praying Anthony will be okay. ... We're sure having some tough times this summer.
