Report from Shannon ...

Fuzzy died today

Beautiful, beautiful Fuzzy

Fuzzy left us this morning, but she's still in our hearts

The first part of the morning was very sad as I stayed with Fuzzy while the doctor at The Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center/Diagnostic Center put her to sleep forever. This is never going to be easy.

Next I picked up Anthony from the same veterinary clinic

This was a very happy event as Anthony is doing great, and he was sure glad to see me! He is recovering so well from his surgery (to cut out a cancerous part of the right front of his jaw) that he's not even on pain medicine anymore!

All of the doctors and staff, of course, thought that Anthony was the sweetest dog in the world. Even another patient in the waiting room fell in love with our gentle giant. When I told the woman that Anthony was a candidate for adoption, she was amazed that a shelter was paying for surgery to remove Anthony's cancer. I told her that right now our shelter was Anthony's home and that he deserves all the love and care that an "officially" adopted dog would get. We have heard from two people in the last few days who are going to contribute toward Anthony's vet bill, and we are so grateful because our vet expenses continue to grow and our Straydog Fund is diminishing.

Anthony turns around in his new bedroom kennel. Shannon's showing him the nice view of his outside kennel.

Anthony's missing right front teeth and right front corner of his jaw are hardly noticeable.

If Dr. McDonald got all the cancer, Anthony's chances are good that the disease won't recur.

Tinkerbell is returned this afternoon

Alyssa (the daughter) was very sad that her family wasn't going to be Tinkerbell's forever home. Tinkerbell is now temporarily living in Sally and Alice's kennel while they both are still recovering (from tail surgery) in the house. She seemed to remember her neighbors and caregivers at Straydog. Tinks excitedly ran in circles all over her new kennel, shook and threw her stuffy toy, and waded in her swimming pool. We're sure Tinks will miss her adoptive family, but she'll always have a happy home here, and she's so cute and small that we're sure she'll be adopted again soon.
