A Chihuahua named Dusty is abandoned by a job applicant!

A few days ago a woman came to apply for a kennel helper position, and she brought her little dog with her. After she left, we discovered she had abandoned her dog in the kennel (that just happened to be temporarily vacant) near the employee parking area. We had her name and number on the application so we right away tried to call her, but the phone line had been disconnected. We've been trying to find her by her name, but apparently she gave us a false name. This is truly a first for Straydog. As soon as we have the little fellow neutered, he'll be going to adoption day along with the others. He's very cute and should be adopted quickly. (I'll bet a lot of humans don't know that they can go to jail for abandoning a pet.)

Alice and Sally's tails are healing, and hopefully they won't have to spend too much longer in their living room kennels

We've got six "hospital" dogs inside the main trailer now, and Alice and Sally are by far the least well behaved of all the dogs we've had to keep in confinement. They whack their E-collars on the portable fencing, chew on the fencing and bark up a storm every time any of the other "hospital" dogs have their turns to go out to the park for a potty break. But they cannot go back to their regular kennel until their tail stubs are completely healed. (Click here to see the August 5th update about their tail surgery.)

Alice's stitches are looking good.

Tina adjusts Alice's E-collar to be sure it won't slip off, which would allow Alice to get at her tail.

Both girls are ready to leave the park and go back to their living room kennels.

Flash! - Now (at 7:41+) I just heard that a piece of scab is coming off Alice's tail wound!

We'll take her in to the vet clinic first thing in the morning.
