Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 12 2003

It rained all night last night and half of today

As we've said many times before, the normal routine continues no matter what the weather (except that we halt operations temporarily when there's lightning).

Anthony and Susie enjoy the rain in the park with Caregivers Juana and Tina

Kennel Man Todd works on drainage during the rain.

Daisy comes home from the clinic

First Daisy's not a puppy dog; she's approximately six years old and upon trying to spay her Dr. Morton found that she'd already been spayed. Dr. Morton also said she's an English Setter, which a reader of our website had already told us in an email earlier today. Daisy's in good health, and being such a small dog (only about 40 pounds) she will probably be adopted quickly. But while she's with us, we've got to find her a kennel spot, and since Scotty looks so much like her, we decided to try Daisy with Scotty first.

At first there was a little growling on the part of both dogs, but soon they seemed compatible.

Walking together two dogs who were recently acquainted seems to release possible tensions between them.

Dr. Morton said to keep Daisy quiet for the next several days while her incision heals, so rather than putting her in with Scotty right away, we're going to keep her either in one of the "hospital kennels" or in the small kennel next to the house that Bobby had moved into yesterday and back out of this afternoon. (Bobby started barking today after the rain stopped, telling us he wanted to move back into the tiny puppy kennel next to the park fence. Tho it's much smaller, it has real grass and a nice breeze, and Bobby has a better view of all the goings-on in the park.)

Bobby, by his own barking request, is back in his tiny puppy kennel by the park.

PetsMart is having a two-day Big Adoption Event in all their stores this weekend

We'll be at the Plano store on Central (75) at Parker with a vanload of dogs both days, from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. Saturday and noon till four Sunday.
