Julie goes to the eye specialist in Arlington (Texas)

I left Straydog at a little after eight and got to Dr. Paulsen's office in Arlington just a little after nine-thirty. This visit was for Julie's four-month checkup and for the doctor to see the sore spot where Julie's tumor had been, which Julie had started scratching yesterday. The doctor said to leave the E-collar on Julie for the next several days till the sore heals and to continue the eye drops as per before but to cut the dosage of eye drops to a lesser amount after two more weeks. We also made an appointment for the next regular checkup.

Dr. Paulsen examines Julie's eye.

Dr. Paulsen continues to work on Julie's eye while another veterinarian (whom I hadn't met before) looks on.

Bear comes back from the groomer; Juany had taken him early this morning

Bear really looks nice in his new 'do. Thanks once again to Ofelia for covering the cost for all the grooming this year. Bear's the last dog of the season to visit the groomer.

Bear with his pretty blue "groomer bows"

Looks good, doesn't he?

Mandy's glad to see Bear back in their kennel.

Buster and Dixie (siblings who have been together for a few years) fight too hard and too much

Once again Buster had some big red sores on his chest due to his long-time kennel mate (and sister) Dixie's super rough play. It's really getting too serious to continue considering it "play." Caregivers/Kennel helpers who have observed the two dogs say Dixie really bites hard on Buster's chest when she gets him down on his back.

We decided it was time to separate these siblings, so we tried Buster with Foxy Yatzee, and they got along fine, so Buster's now in Foxy's kennel, and he seems a whole lot happier.

Foxy Yatzee and Buster now live together.

Next we tried Dixie (the aggressive one) with Amigo, who's been living with Foxy for several days. This did not work. Dixie, we think, is going to have to remain a solo dog like Tipper and Katie. It seems that sometimes adult female dogs get to the point where they don't want anyone living with them any longer. We'll continue to try bigger adult males, but Dixie just may wind up living alone and will have to be adopted into a home where she's the only pet.

Dixie tried to lunge ferociously at Amigo right after this photo was taken.

Tomorrow I take Bobby to the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center for his final checkup

Bobby's appointment is for 11:15, and I'll report on the results tomorrow evening.
