Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19 2003

An Email from Darla Fort, wife of Neal Fort (offensive right tackle for the Montreal Alouettes), who adopted Helen (the nearly blind white Great Dane) last December

Dear Bill,

The Montreal Gazette (Montreal's leading newspaper) will be coming by tomorrow to take pictures of our beloved Helen. Neal will be doing an interview tomorrow to correspond with the pictures. A writer at the paper caught wind of Helen's story and wanted to bring it to the attention of the newspaper's readers. It will be a great opportunity to put the word out about Straydog. I will let you know when the article comes out, but it should be very soon. Hopefully something good will come of it! Thinking of you, Pat, the volunteers and all the dogs there at Straydog.

Darla Fort

Thanks so much, Darla and Neal. This is the kind of thing that can potentially be very beneficial to Straydog. This should bring thousands of hits to our website, and out of those thousands at least some will become supporters of Straydog. Now I've got to stop everything else I'm doing and try to get the hit counter at the end of this homepage fixed so we'll be able to tell just how many readers of the article in the Montreal Gazette look up our website.

The Montreal Alouettes play the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Montreal this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. Montreal leads the Eastern Division of the Canadian Football League with a record of 10 wins and two losses. It looks like Neal's team may be heading for the Grey Cup Game again this year.

Today was another big vet visit day for Straydog

   Heather

Heather went for her final heartworm test, and she's clear. She also had a hookworm test, and she's also now clear of hookworms. Many people were interested in possibly adopting Heather at our Sunday Adoption Day last weekend, and she'll be going tomorrow (Saturday).

   Julie

Julie's glucose test results were high again but a little lower than last time: 266.5. The doctor said to keep Julie on the natural diet prescribed by Dr. Aiken that Erin's got Julie on, keep giving her the same insulin dosage of 15 units and to bring her back in a week.

   Daisy

Daisy's incision is almost okay. The doctor said she could move in with Scotty now but that we shouldn't let her run too fast or too far for another week. Daisy's going to Adoption Day tomorrow (Saturday) but can't be adopted officially for another week.

Daisy's lying in a scoopy hole under the shade board while Scotty stands in front of Daisy, happy he has a new kennel mate.

   Angel

Angel's ear infections are better, but she is to continue the same ear wash and medications for another week.
