Teddy went to the vet clinic to have his ears checked
The doctor said Teddy's ears are not infected and to continue washing them with the ear wash he'd prescribed and stop worrying about Teddy's ears. ... Teddy's getting old. Pat found him as a puppy wandering around a super market parking lot. Nobody's ever really even considered adopting Teddy, probably because he looks like a wolf and is very hyper when he gets excited. Pat found Teddy Bear back in '92 or '93 when we were still living on Cedar Creek Lake. We'd gotten up to a total of eight rescued stray dogs (plus our two regular house dogs) and had built kennels in all three yards before we got wind that the neighbors were starting to complain (and they had every right to). So Pat started looking for a lot of acreage, found 20 acres 20 miles from the lake, and Teddy's still here, growing old. I know that Pat dreaded what's coming over the next five years or so.

For some reason my email hasn't worked for a couple of days
Here are a few that came yesterday, which I finally was able to access today:
Email from Darla and Neal Fort:
Dear Bill,
The article on Neal and Helen went National and appeared in ALL the major newspapers in Canada!!! It was a HUGE success. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better it did. Today on TSN (the Canadian Sports Network) they showed the picture of Neal and Helen and talked about Neal's story as well as "Straydog.org" during the game. We will have to send you a copy of that broadcast. A food supplier called the Gazette and wanted to contact us about donating food to Straydog!!! I will call first thing in the morning and let you know. With the mention of Straydog during the game today we can't help but get excited about the possibilities it might lead to! Who would have ever thought that a blind, deaf puppy tossed in a dumpster would have such an impact. Please keep me posted with any news as I will do the same on my end. Much love, Darla (and Neal) Fort
A note from Bill ...
Our hit counter for some reason didn't show it, but a statistics page on our server showed we had more than 2,000 hits from Canada on Sunday. And yesterday we got over 600 total hits on our newly fixed hit counter! We are sure grateful to Neal Fort for getting Straydog.org mentioned. Every time we get exposure through the media, we increase our contributor base, and we are extremely grateful to our contributors for sustaining us for the past several years and for continuing to sustain us.
Email from Pat Seward about Bella:
Hey, Erin,
Here are some pics of Bella on her first day at our home (some pics show 9/21st but they were all taken on Saturday).
[The following captions accompany the photos Bella's new mom emailed to us, but the photos were in PDF format, and I couldn't figure out how to copy them, so all I can do is include the captions. I can do only what I know how to do on a computer, I'm sorry to admit, but I don't have time to try to figure out how to do something new like copy a PDF photo.]
Captions:
1. First time
in pool.
2. Just woke up after a short nap after getting a bath.
3. Bella stepped in pool to get a drink of water.
4. Another short nap.
5. With Dad and Charlie celebrating Charlie's one-year anniversary
today at the Seward home.
6. Talking with Dad and Charlie outside later.
7. Bella and Charlie hanging out on a Saturday night.
8. Bella giving puppy kisses and biting Dad's nose.
Things are going great. Each day gets a little better, of course, between the pups (under our watchful eyes). Sunday was a calmer day, and Bella got in several naps. We had a heavy dew Sunday morning and Bella got into our flower bed and just walked around in it, but when she got out, she looked like she was wearing black shoes with all the mud on her feet. Bella is really a laid back pup and also loves a fan blowing directly in her face. Just two "accidents" in the house so far. Bella is really a beautiful dog and so sweet and funny. Greg went out of town today, and he really hated to leave since Bella just got here. I think he will miss her more than me! Just wanted to let you know our progress and thank you again for letting us have Bella.

Email from Carol, a regular reader/viewer of Straydog.org:
Good Morning,
Thank you so much for all the wonderful pictures of Bella. It
is hard to believe she is just a puppy; but we know how large
these dogs will be when fully grown. It is so comforting
to know that Bella will have such a good life. The home is beautiful;
but even more important is that she will be with loving, caring
people.
The articles from the Canadian papers were fantastic. This should help a lot of dogs, and a lot of people who want to adopt or who want to help and will contribute. I so enjoy your website with all of the information. The pictures are just so real; I feel I am actually in the room. Bless you for all that you do.
Regards,
Carol
