Two tiny pups found in a garbage bag inside a dumpster join us
A former employee came up our driveway this afternoon with two tiny pups her husband had seen being placed in a dumpster near where he works. He had told his wife that he'd thought something was strange about the incident because the garbage bag seemed have a lot of movement, so he went right out to check. The monsters who had dumped the bag were long gone when the husband got to the dumpster and found the two pups in the garbage bag. The couple had been trying to find homes for the pups for several weeks with no success, and they were living in a rental property that would allow only two dogs, and they already had three adult dogs, so they couldn't keep the pups any longer.
The pups are both girls, and have had their first puppy shots, so we'll be taking care of their expenses from here on until they are adopted. Luckily the small puppy kennel next to the long white hospital trailer will be a big enough home for the pups for a while.

Three other people called today wanting us to take dogs they had rescued
With our two adoptions Saturday (Freddy and Daisy) we've got some mixing and matching to do before we will have a kennel spot open. Daisy was in with Scotti, and it takes a special dog for Scotti to accept her. Freddy and Amigo had really parted company the day before when Freddy got out of their kennel by scaling the chain link fence like a spider. (Some of the crew were calling him "Freddy the Spider Dog.") And now with these two puppies to deal with as they get bigger (if they're not adopted right away), we do not have an open spot right now, and there are three people who called or emailed today who have rescued dogs they're trying to find places for. We're working on plans for mixing and matching to free up a kennel even though we're still almost ten dogs over our self imposed limit of 65. ("Almost" because we don't exactly know how to count two little puppies.)
