Since Pat's death Bill Arnold continues to work (without pay) every day for Straydog Inc. Pat and Bill's
four children (all in their 30s and 40s with full-time jobs) are also helping Straydog
continue to operate exactly as Pat would have wanted.

As always, complete financial records are available on request.)

Straydog, our Happy Home for Strays
(The hexagon is "The Big Play Yard," which we usually refer to as "the park")
(Photo taken May 2002)

Straydog is a "lifeboat" (and sanctuary) for rescued dogs. A vacant spot in a kennel is an empty seat in our "lifeboat,"
so please, if you're interested in adopting a dog, see our "Dogs for Adoption" links below, or call to inquire about dogs
you may have seen recent photos of but who may not yet be included in our "Dogs for Adoption" links.
And please
continue to support us. We will continue to row this "lifeboat" to shore, dropping off rescued dogs into the arms of
good adopters, and we will continue to fill the space left vacant by each adopted dog with another desperate
homeless dog for as long as we can hold on (financially). We believe that the example of our sacrifice (and the
example of the sacrifices made by the people running all other no-kill shelters) must be publicized to wake people up
and make them aware of the necessity to
SPAY and NEUTER their pets so that homeless dog-rescue "lifeboats" will
no longer be necessary. (Ditto for cats!)

Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 2 2003

With Amigo adopted yesterday Rosie is once again alone, so we try Rosie with Colby, the gigantic Rottweiler we took from the closed-down foster home in Plano

At first Rosie tried to intimidate the big (but very gentle) bruiser by jumping up on him, but when she saw that Colby was not only not afraid of her, but was giving her signs that she would be no match for him, she began hiding from him behind or at the side of Tina, the caregiver/handler who actually had Colby on leash. We think, however, they might be compatible, but we'll have to reintroduce them every day on leash in the park for a while to be sure.

When they are first introduced, Rosie jumps up on Big Colby, but he didn't flinch.

Colby loves to clamp his jaws on human arms, but he bearly uses any pressure at all. Rosie stays beside Tina.

A Note from Pat from about a year ago ... A long-time friend and supporter of our Happy Home for Strays called recently and suggested that we always print the following words on our webpage and in our newsletters: "Please keep us in your prayers and remember us in your will." Our friend (and supporter) pointed out that many retired contributors are living on the limited earnings from their investments (as is he), and they cannot afford to send very large donations but would be able to help us by remembering Straydog Inc. in their wills, as this friend and supporter has done.

Article on Neal Fort & Helen

(published in the Montreal Gazette 9/20/03)

*Email from Neal Fort's wife, Darla, received Thursday, September 18th and published here Friday, September 19th.

*Article in newspapers across Canada on September 20, 2003 about the Montreal Alouettes' Neal Fort and his Great Dane, Helen, whom the Forts adopted from Straydog. (Links to the articles are working again.)

* The Neal Fort articles upped our readership! Every bit of media exposure gives us a boost!

We really want to thank Neal a lot for getting Straydog and our website address mentioned. Every mention on broadcast TV and radio and every mention in print is a potentially big step and always increases audience.
