Erin's report ...

Dad is sick with the flu

Poor Pop has a fever and feels really bad. He's been in bed all day, sometimes moaning and groaning. (He sounds like Bobby when Bobby was in a hospital kennel inside.) His fever is going down and hopefully he'll be able to sleep soon.

Dogs were too excited today

It may have been the cooler weather that brought on the excitement today with the dogs. There were several fights. Dixie was too rough with Buster again, causing a surface scrape. Krissy began tearing after Rudy and wouldn't stop until we got the hose. Maybe she was jealous of new caregiver Shelly giving her kennel-mates attention. Later, Champ went into the large dog-house shelter to beat up long-time kennel mate Trixie. Caregiver Susan called for help but all was calm when we got there. Older Sandy terrorized all of our "Central" area dogs by running the fence-line of the smaller play area during his caregiving time. The water hose did nothing to deter him from wanting to get at his enemy Pokey through the fence. This riled up all the other dogs in this area too. Luckily we had brought in Pokey's mate Emily, because of her limp, so she didn't get involved and aggravate her leg further from the scuffle.

Puppy Sadie is doing fine at her new home

I called puppy Sadie's new guardian mom Kristie, to see how Sadie was doing at her new home, 5 days after being adopted. I was hoping to hear that Kristie's Husky, Elvis, and German Shepherd, Roxie, were being nice to the little puppy and the news is good! Kristie still monitors the dogs carefully when they are off-leash together but there doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

Sadie and her new guardian mom

Little Sadie teases the big dogs though! She bites their tails and then runs from them to places where they can't go, like under the tables. Elvis, the big white husky lets Sadie jump and walk on him, and has become protective of the little one. Seven-month old Roxie still is trying to understand WHY this puppy has to be here all the time... she thought she was the baby of the family!

These big dogs showed Sadie how to sleep through the night Kristie reported, as she set their crates for the night facing each other. The dogs also share bones and toys and have many conversations which make their guardian mom smile and laugh very much!
