Ofelia comes to volunteer for the day, and after dog walks we put her to work on the computer

It was still in the 40s this morning when Ofelia got here to volunteer for the day. We are always thankful to have an extra hand as it gives the dogs another caregiver to give them extra attention.

Fluffy enjoys her back scratching from Ofelia.

Buffy gets a hug from Ofelia right before Michael takes the threesome back to their kennel.

Ofelia's coming to volunteer again tomorrow, and we thank her very much!

Ofelia spent the second part of her day helping us enter data into the computer. Before Pat died, everything was done by hand and a paper file was kept (by Pat) on each and every contributor. Pat also kept all the amounts and frequency of contributions in her head. Pat and I had always talked about computerizing all this, and it's taking us forever (it seems) to get this work done now. Hopefully when we get this all caught up, we won't have anymore duplicate labels on our mailing list.

Sasha (the newly rescued Golden Retriever) comes home to Straydog

The doctor estimates Sasha's age to be between two and three years old. He gave her all her shots and attempted to spay her, but she'd already been spayed. She had no worms and no heartworms. It would appear now that Sasha had been dumped. I'll bet there are a lot of ignoramuses out there who don't know that they would have to serve jail time for dumping a dog (or cat). Please get license plate numbers if you ever see (or suspect) that a dog (or cat) is being abandoned and then keep calling different law enforcement agencies till you find one who knows the law. Let's get these dumpers behind bars where they belong.

We constructed another "hospital" kennel inside the long, white trailer for Sasha to spend at least her first night. We'll figure out an outside kennel arrangement tomorrow.

Sasha arrived from the clinic just after sunset.

Randy leads Sasha down the path to the hospital trailer, dogs barking their hostile welcome along both sides.

We rebuilt the same kennel Anthony used for a week after his jaw cancer operation.

Buffy, Muffy and Fluffy live in the kennel right outside Sasha's window. There was some barking for a while.
