Sasha is behaving better

Randy Hopkins reported at 6:00 this morning as he was leaving Straydog for the day that Sasha had done pretty well last night. She was quiet most of the night in her bedroom kennel, and she behaved very well during her night trips to the park. Randy said he thought she was settling in nicely, and was sure by the way she was now behaving that she must have gone through some kind of obedience training.

Sasha sleeps in her bedroom kennel.

After Randy left, I went in her room to visit her, and at first she seemed a lot calmer, but when I opened the gate of her bedroom kennel, she bounded out and acted as if I'd been gone away for a month. But after a few minutes of petting and hugging and trying to calm her down Sasha became like a regular dog and sat quietly at my feet enjoying the attention I was giving her. Then when I said to her to come on and get back in the kennel, she obeyed me and settled down on her blanket. This would seem to indicate that wherever she lived before, she probably had spent a good deal of her time in a crate--probably way, way too much time.

In the park (the big play yard) Sasha walks right beside (or behind) us on leash and doesn't pull to go the direction she might want to go in.

Sasha behaves very well in the park.

Sasha meets Colby in the park

Fearing Sasha might not be adopted tomorrow (at Saturday Adoption Day at PetsMart in Plano, Texas on Central Expressway (75) at Parker road) we introduced her to Big Rottweiler Colby late this afternoon, so that she might have an outside kennel to go into with a kennel mate Sunday, as this inside kenneling is taking up a lot of time on the part of a lot of caregivers just to keep Sasha calm most of the day (and night).

Colby (the Rott we took from the Plano foster home) and Sasha meet and get along well. We're planning on taking
both of these wonderful dogs to Saturday Adoption Day plus Puppy Madison and others yet to be decided on.
