Three dogs went to Adoption Day, and we have three pending adoptions

Complete story with photos to come Sunday. After picking up $471 worth of dog food at Canine Commissary (which will last just one week) and then stopping at Whole Foods Market for some special foods and supplements for our special-needs dogs (a little over $60), we finally got home after 7:00 p.m. We put Colby back in his kennel and Sasha in her bedroom kennel and little Puppy Madison in her outside kennel. Now we've still got to unload the van and put everything away. Erin will be writing her version of what happened at PetsMart and will email it to me either late tonight or in the morning.

Erin's Report from Adoption Day ...

We have three people interested in Puppy Madison. Two people filled out the paperwork but weren't ready for home visits, so we have these home visits scheduled for the coming week. Madison looks like a purebred Australian Cattle Dog (aka "Blue Heeler"), and the Encyclopedia of Dogs says that this kind of dog is happiest when he (or she) has something to do, something intensive, like herding cattle for hours on end! We know that this little puppy loves being around other dogs too. We'll try to place her in the home that we think will be best for her.

A family also came into PetsMart and fell in love with Sasha! We told them about her "special personality," and this didn't scare them off at all. They also weren't ready for the home visit or to take Sasha yet because they are going to be gone all day Sunday, but we will schedule the home visit at the beginning of the coming week, and if all goes well, the family wants to come out to Straydog and take Sasha home as soon as possible! They have an eight-foot fence, and the mom stays home. Sasha is real good with kids, and the family includes a daughter in elementary school, so this home looks very promising.

The daughter gives Sasha a big hug.

Colby also had a potential adopter interested in him late in our Adoption Day session. The woman will look at Colby on the Internet and said she'd give us a call.
