Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 10 2003

Ojay and I arrived at Dallas Veterinary Surgery Center at 7:30 a.m.

Ojay was his usual well-behaved self as he sat on my lap in the waiting room with about five other dogs and their guardian/masters all around us. It wasn't long before a young woman in a vet tech uniform came out and announced, "Ojay!"

They told me to call this afternoon to find out the results of the operation and that if all was going according to plan, Ojay would be ready to come home tomorrow.

I stopped at Whole Foods Market to pick up a 25-pound bag of organic brown rice and a 25-pound bag of organic millet, both of which grains we cook and mix in with the dogs' regular food.

By the time I got back to Straydog (about noon), Dr. Wilkens had already called to say the surgery had gone well and they anticipated no problems. I'm still to call in the morning to see when I can pick Ojay up and bring him back to Straydog.

Buffy to stay at the vet clinic another night

Doctor Morton can't find anything wrong with Buffy. He still won't eat but the tube-fed food stayed down and didn't make Buffy sick. The doctor is trying a few more things today, and we'll get a report tomorrow.

Old Pup is doing very well today; tomorrow he goes in for more blood tests

Old Pup appears to have recovered from his bowel problem, and we won't know anything about the possible tumor(s) on either his adrenal or pituitary gland, till the results of tomorrow's tests come back.

Old Pup is doing much better as he enjoys a visit to the park.

Jeannie's heartworm test results came back: POSITIVE

We'll treat her for the disease as we have many, many other dogs here at Straydog, and we're confident the treatment will be successful.

[Billions of photos still to come.]
