Erin 's Report on Saturday Adoption Day ...

Kelsey finds a wonderful home!
A young couple came into Petsmart Saturday with a plan that this would be their first stop in a search for another companion animal for themselves and their other dog. They never made it to the other rescue adoptions, because Kelsey, a very loving and pretty husky mix, captured their hearts.
This was Kelsey's first Adoption Day (and hopefully her last)!
The couple has a nice home in Rowlett with a yard enclosed with a wrought iron fence that overlooks a neighborhood pond, which is full of ducks! Kelsey will get to be an inside pet with a great outdoor area, and she has a nice buddy to chum around with!

There was lots of tail-wagging, but we thought we'd let the couple take the dogs on a long walk together and introduce them off leash later in a slower fashion. Kelsey likes to jump up on other dogs, and this kind of bothered this other fellow at first, which is normal. He really looked like he wanted to play with Kelsey as the two dogs spent more time together, but Trish and I needed to get back to PetsMart, and we trusted that the constant tail wagging on the part of both dogs was a sign that they were compatible.
Kelsey's new mom and dad can spend lots of time with the dogs this weekend, and the dad works out of their home a lot, so there'll often be somebody there with the dogs. This is a great situation. The couple took our recommendations for Kelsey's dog food, were very open to keeping toys up and feeding at scheduled times instead of leaving food down (which the dogs could fight over), and they seemed very, very excited having their new, sweet companion, Kelsey, at their home.

Kelsey is one lucky dog too! We'll get Kelsey's complete story from SJ (who delivered Kelsey to us from the foster home in Plano two months ago). SJ will be very happy too about this adoption.
Sunday started off very cold (about 30 degrees) but wormed up into the 50s
There was lots of sunshine all day, and the dogs very much enjoyed the weather. So did the caregivers, who wore light jackets or sweatshirts from about noon on.
