Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

TUESDAY DECEMBER 16 2003

Woman wants to drop off two pugs, and two of our employees want to adopt them!

This would have been a tough one, but luckily two of our caregiver/kennel helpers got us out of a real jam.

The woman who wanted to surrender the Pugs had been sent to us by a former Straydog employee, which we ask our employees not to do, as we have more rescues than we can handle from: (1) our own rescues; (2) rescues of people who phone us; and (3) rescues of people who email us.

The woman's father died on Thanksgiving night, and he had been the dogs' guardian dad, and he had cared for the two Pugs as if they were his grandchildren. The daughter had been keeping the Pugs, trying to make them get along with her four original dogs, but the six of them were not compatible, so she had to find homes for the Pugs or take them to the Humane Society.

Luckily two of our employees, Susan and Shelly, heard through the walkie-talkies that there were two Pugs being surrendered, and they eagerly offered to adopt the dogs, a female about six years old and her son, who's about five years old.

So, Susan and Shelly took the two fells home with them tonight to care for them forever.

This little guy and his mother are purebread pugs with papers.
She's been spayed. He will be neutered immediately.

Mike and Juany carry the pugs to a temporary kennel to await their trip home with Susan & Shelly.
