EARLY MORNING UPDATE

This photo was taken from the front door of my dad's house in Richardson (Texas) at about 7:00 this morning.
Dad lives about five miles from the PetsMart store on U.S. 75 at Parker in Plano, where we hold our Adoption Day.

Needless to say, no Adoption Day today!

*Adoption Day Every Saturday (unless the weather stops us, which it has this weekend) - We take a van load of dogs to PetsMart in Plano (Texas) on Central (U.S.75) at Parker every Saturday, and we are there from 11:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. Please contact us via email or phone if you would like us to bring to PetsMart a special dog you've seen on this website, or make an appointment and come out and see the dog(s) you're interested in right here at Straydog.

*Our Dogs for Adoption listed on Petfinder.org, kept up to date by volunteer and member of our Board of Directors, Susan Southerland, Esq.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 14 2004

Skeleton crew makes it to Straydog this morning

Tina made it to the entrance to the driveway and walked up our hill to start preparing the dogs' breakfasts at 6:00 a.m.

Bobby's light pickup truck went in the ditch just a short distance from Straydog, and he walked the rest of the way. He was about a half hour late, but he made it.

Chico was an hour late due to having to drive very slowly, but he made it, and his front-wheel-drive vehicle climbed our driveway without a problem.

John, who rides his bike 20 miles to and from work, called before seven o'clock saying that he would be late, and as of post time he hasn't arrived. We hope he's okay but have no way to reach him.

I drove up from Straydog to my father's in Richardson in the rain and snow last evening, and when I got within about 10 miles of Dallas, the bad weather stopped and the roads were dry and clear. This morning, as the photo above shows, the Dallas area was (and still is) covered with what looks like at least an inch of snow.

Juana stayed at Straydog all night last night so she could take my six a.m. shift as hospital attendant and manage our shelter in my absence, and she'll stay till I get back, hopefully this evening or Sunday morning.

The latest report from Straydog is that it's still snowing there, and all the dogs are having a great time playing in it. I asked Juana to take a lot of pictures today. Hopefully by Sunday I'll be able to post some of the 20 or 30 photos I took during yesterday's "snow event," as the weather people are calling periods of snowfall now.
