Dog named Copper joins us

Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28 2004

A dog named Copper joins us temporarily

Copper belongs to a young woman who's a close friend of one of our employees. Due to extreme family problems this woman had to leave her home along with her children, and they are now homeless themselves. She had nowhere to keep her dog, so we said we'd foster care the dog for a while till the woman finds a place to stay.

We try Copper with Boomer

These two seemed to get along fine at first, so after their successful introduction we put Copper in Boomer's kennel with him, and still everything seemed okay. A couple of hours later, unfortunately, Boomer, in a frenzy due to a commotion in a neighboring kennel, attacked Copper (which Boomer has done to several other dogs in the past when he's gotten excited about something), and we had to move Copper out and back to a temporary kennel. We'll probably be trying Copper with Sandy this afternoon.

Copper and Boomer meet, and everything looks okay at first.

Adoption Day doggie van left for PetsMart at 8:50 this morning

We'll have our usual report on Adoption Day results in the Sunday Update.

Today would have been Pat's 64th birthday

I still can't believe she's gone. I just can't believe it. ... I hope we're doing everything all right here at Straydog. Erin told me she was thinking about her mom the other evening, and she asked Pat if we were doing everything we're supposed to be doing, and Erin said that Pat spoke to her as clearly as if she had been standing next to Erin. All Pat said was, "You guys are running the shelter now. You all know what to do."
