Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log
MONDAY MARCH 1 2004
Becky (who lost half an ear yesterday) will be spending the next week in one of our hospital kennels
Jason, our overnight man, said that by morning Becky had learned to keep calm while other hospital dogs were being lead past Becky to go to the park for their potty breaks. When Becky started fussing at passing dog, Jason said he would clap his hands loudly and tell her no, and she got pretty good about letting the others go by. She's not behaving quite so well this morning, but she's improved a lot since yesterday. We took her out with her kennel mate during his time in the park this morning, and they got along great.

Shawna goes to the park with Scottie and then back to his kennel
It looks like enough time has passed since Shawna's spay surgery (which she had on Friday, February 20). We took the two to the park together this morning, and Scottie still sniffed her a lot, but she showed no interest in him, and he soon left her alone. We took them both back to Scottie's kennel, and they're getting along fine, and Scottie's behaving like a gentleman once again.

Puppy William joins Puppies Holly and Grace in the park
Holly and Grace are out of quarantine today. Their mange has cleared up, and the three pups are almost exactly the same size, so we took all three to the park (our big play yard) for their first outing there, and they had a ball playing together! After their park visit, we put all three back into Grace and Holly's kennel, where they are continuing to have a grand time playing together.
Katie continues to do very well
Old Katie is enjoying life once again. She's eating well, and she has a good time walking around the park. The temperature's supposed to rise into the 70s today, which will hopefully inspire Katie to keep hanging on as long as she can.
Rudy's doing well
He's eating at least five meals per day, and we're keeping him inside in a hospital kennel for long periods every day to stop him from exercising so much. Rudy runs almost non-stop when he's out in his former kennel with his mother Rosie.
Many thanks to Ofelia and her husband for bringing us four big file cabinets!
These file cabinets are really great, and they're going to help us a lot as we continue to try to get more and more organized.
