Pat's 1998 video is digitized

Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

TUESDAY MARCH 2 2004

Our son-in-law, Dana (Erin's husband), successfully digitized Pat's video

Our next step will be to start burning DVDs and making VHS copies. In the newsletter that I'm trying to finish up now (as it's already been three months since we mailed the last newsletter, and our funds are beginning to run low again), we are going to offer free copies of the DVD (or the VHS tape) to anyone who asks for a copy. (Please remember that Pat and I decided long, long ago never to sell anything to try to raise money. We take care of the dogs, we tell you about it here on the website and in our print newsletters, and we ask that you support us financially.

As soon as I get a copy of Pat's tape, I'll shoot some short mpeg clips of the video and will put them on this website.

Scottie behaved himself with Shawna (back in his kennel) all day yesterday until it was time for dinner

Earlier in the day Shawna says, "Finally the big masher's lost interest in me!"

Most of the dogs (including Shawna) become very excited at mealtime when the feeders come out of the kennel office with their stacks of bowls full of freshly prepared dog food. Scottie, realizing Shawna was distracted by the soon-to-be-served meal, forgot his manners and attempted the impossible, with all the feeders yelling at him until Scottie and Shawna's feeder finally got to their kennel and served them their meals, which ended Scottie's misbehavior as Shawna was immediately put into her enclosed feeding area (which we refer to as a "feeding gate"). After dinner there were no more incidents, thank goodness! The old "Let's have dinner together!" ploy didn't work this time, Scottie.

Becky is tolerating all the hospital dogs but Foxy Yatzee

As we reported yesterday, Jason, our overnight man, has trained Becky to contain herself when Foxy passes by Becky's kennel at night, but during the day yesterday Becky forgot all Jason's training and reverted to her old, fractious ways, which causes a major commotion in the hospital for a few moments every time Foxy goes out for a potty break. After the first incident this morning we put Becky in Jeannie's kennel in the big hospital ward (formerly the trailer's master bedroom), and we put Jeannie in the kennel Becky had been staying in, which is just across the "living room" from Foxy's kennel.

Becky is moved into Jeannie's former kennel in the big hospital ward to separate her from Foxy Yatzee.

Now our only problem is Becky's incessant barking, as she doesn't like being away from the action in the main hospital area.

Puppy Holly has no appetite and has runny poop with some blood in it

This afternoon Erin and Tina will be taking Katie for her accupuncture appointment with Dr. Reeves in Tyler, and they will also take along Holly, who had runny, bloody diarrhea after her trip to the park with Sister Grace and new kennel mate, William.

The girls are reluctant to go back into their kennel after their fun time in the park.
