Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log
MONDAY MARCH 8 2004
Holly and Grace are both doing fine
Dr. Morton called this morning asking about the two pups who apparently had mild cases of parvo. I told the doctor that both are eating, drinking and having normal bowel movements, and I asked how long we need to keep them apart from each other and isolated from Puppy William (and really all the other dogs). Dr. Morton said that so far Grace and Holly's immune systems have been strong enough to ward off the disease, but they're not out of the woods yet, Dr. Morton added. And Puppy William must remain isolated for several more days. The incubation period for parvovirus is from three days to three weeks, Dr. Morton said, so we for sure cannot at this point assume everything's all right with the pups.
Katie continues to enjoy life
We can tell by just looking at Katie that she's doing okay. She goes to Tyler again tomorrow afternoon to see Dr. Reeves for another laser treatment on her right eye and for another acupuncture treatment for her arthritis and general well being.

No word back from the woman who wants to return her dog
Erin has called several times leaving messages. ... Later Erin heard from the woman, who is going to call the original foster mom.
I'm not so sure noon is the best time to post our update; any suggestions?
Last week it seemed like a lot of important things kept happening right after the noon posting every day, which events should have been reported then rather than 24 hours later. Midnight would seem to be the most logical time to post the update of the previous day, but I'm on an early-to-bed/early-to-rise schedule, so midnight won't work, and I'm not going back to posting the update before bed, as that made me stay up too late every night.
I wish I had the time to post updates right after the events happen, but then interested readers would have to keep checking www.straydog.org all the time (just as with any of the news websites), and I would be doing nothing but updating all day long, and I've got a million other things to do every day for Straydog in addition to this work.
I'm composing the next mailer, which should have gone out at the beginning of March (if not earlier)
This "little chore" of mine HAS to be done now. The daily expenses never end and never seem to diminish. We thank those who regularly send contributions, but we've got to reach the 2,100 other contributors on our mailing list who never see this website, and we've got to reach them pretty quick, or we'll once again be in the "panic zone," which is where both Pat and I spent most of the past 10 years. And then hearing stories like the one about the dog shooter in yesterday's update really weigh heavily a fella.
