Everybody's doing well today

Bill Arnold's Daily Straydog Log

TUESDAY MARCH 9 2004

Holly and Grace continue to show no more symptoms of parvovirus

They're eating, drinking water, and all potty functions are normal.

Grace in her small hospital kennel across the ward from her sister, Holly.

Puppy William has shown no signs of having parvo

We continue to keep a close eye on William.

Puppy William just splashed a lot of water out of his water bucket and is now standing up in the mud puddle.

Rudy, who's feeling great, is down to 51 pounds; his recent high was 56 pounds

We've been feeding Rudy extra meals, but as we've said before, when he's in with his mother, Rosie, he runs non-stop in big circles all around their kennel (formerly Julie's kennel, which has one of our webcams trained on it). To make Rudy stop running we have to bring him inside and give him a "time-out" period in one of the hospital kennels. He doesn't really want to be inside, especially now that the weather is so nice (sunny with temperatures in the high 60s), but he simply won't stop running when he's outside.

Erin snapped a few photos at (and after) dog dinner time last evening:

Caregiver Bobby has the bowls ready for the dogs he'll be feeding

Pokey eats in his kennel yard while his kennel mate, Emily, eats in what we call a "feeding gate" behind Pokey.

Rover and Happy eat separated by the same type of "feeding gate" system.

Max and Molly are so happy after eating that they dance together for us.

Jason, our overnight man, chopped up and cooked a bunch of vegetables for the dogs last evening.

Thanks for the suggestions concerning the post time for our daily update

Some like the noon post time just fine. Others would like an eight a.m. post time, and others would like an evening post time the way it was before. I guess I'll stick with noon for a while.

Now back to work on the newsletter.
