NOON UPDATE:
Becky's torn ear is healed, and she goes back to her outside kennel with Little Bear
Becky left her ear alone all weekend during trial periods with her E-collar off, so we moved her back in with her kennel mate Little Bear yesterday, and they're doing fine together, and she's leaving her ear alone.

Parvo pups, Holly and Grace, have been fine for over a week
We put these two sisters back together yesterday in their tiny outside kennel, and they went right back to playing and tussling together as if they'd never been apart.

Jordan and Baby Girl were finally out of quarantine for mange yesterday
Jordan and Baby Girl's first trip to the park (our big play yard) was a really special, fun time for these two beautiful labs who had been dumped at the entrance to our driveway in the early morning hours of January 25th. Jordan and Baby Girl have regained their health, and they were sure ready to play and run and chase balls and toys thrown by their caregiver, Tina.

A sore spot (or "hot spot") is discovered at the base of Big Bear's tail
It was almost dark when Erin noticed a raw, bloody "hot spot" on Bear. Erin was making the rounds checking on everyone one last time before our overnight man, Jason, arrived. Since Bear would not leave the sore spot alone, Erin waited for Jason, and then they made the decision to bring Bear into a hospital kennel for the night so they could clean the spot and put some antibiotic ointment on it. Bear left the sore alone all night (without an E-collar), so we put him back out with Mandy this morning, and she was sure glad to see Big Bear.

A most hideous woman just called at a quarter till noon
The woman wanted to drop off a dog with a behavioral problem or, she said, its owner is going to have the dog put down. I tried to tell her that the dog could be trained, but she cut me off and went on to talk about her own puppy, who is an offspring of the dog with the behavioral problem, and she's worried that her pup will also have the behavioral problem. I then tried to tell her that behavioral problems are not hereditary, but she didn't want to hear this. She just wants to find a place real quick where they can drop off these unwanted dogs and be done with them. They're probably late for lunch.
FIVE P.M. UPDATE
Erin and Tina left at 2:00 p.m. with five dogs on their way to visit Dr. Reeves in Tyler
Those making the trip: Katie, who's doing much better and even ran in the park yesterday; Puppy William, who's got a red sore on his tummy; Rocky, who has bloody stools again; Trixie, who's favoring one of her back legs; and Jasmine, who's got infections in both ears. Full report in tomorrow's early update.
