NOON UPDATE:
The Jack Jones/Straydog second dog rescue in seven years is a success
Tina reports that when she and Susan arrived at Mr. Jones' house (I refer to him as Mr. Jones as he is in his eighties, though I call him Jack when we converse on the phone), they were lead around to the alley in the back where the poor dog was cowering in fear. Tina says that the dog (whom Tina and Susan have named Jackie) moved away from them slowly and could have escaped over a low, leaning fence, but the dog let Tina (with treats in her hand) get closer and closer, softly sweet-talking the dog, who growled a little as she moved backwards until she finally let Tina get close enough to slip the leash over her head. "It was as if she knew we were there to help her," Tina said, and after the leash was on, the dog readily walked along with Tina to the van, where they loaded her into a crate without a problem.
Mr. Jones and the neighbors were in awe as they witnessed the relative ease with which Tina and Susan rescued the dog.
Mr. Jones gave Tina a nice donation and said he'd be sure to continue to send us a donation every month to help pay for Jackie's care. He did say that if Jackie is indeed pregnant, he wanted her to go ahead and have the puppies. We assured Mr. Jones that (per his wishes) we would not abort the babies and that our emphasis has always been and will always be on CONCEPTION CONTROL to stop the on-going overpopulation tragedy. (Abortion was always a non-issue with me and Pat. We never even discussed the pros and cons of abortion. The possibility of abortion should never even appear as an option. Instead we must simply stop--WITHOUT FAIL--unplanned conception ... PERIOD!)
Back home at Straydog Juana and I were busy trying to figure out where we would be able to keep this mother-to-be and her soon-to-be-born litter of pups. We have no alternative but to borrow enough money to put up yet another kennel, albeit a small one, which will cost Straydog about $500.
Tina and Susan dropped Jackie off at our vet clinic for her new arrivals check up , and hopefully we'll be ready to bring Jackie home Monday.
I'm still re-working the newsletter, but it will be posted soon
And again, please read the three pieces of our mailer and make any comments you might have in an email to BillArnold147@Yahoo.com. When I post the newsletter this afternoon, I'll put a link to it (or to each of its pieces) at the very top of this homepage.
Email from Jana (Blind Chubs and Sister Cassie's mom) about Synflex, a product for joint pain
Erin,
Charlie mailed a bottle a Synflex to Toby at the PO Box this morning. There is a brochure in there giving dosages for humans and animals. It says to give a double dose for a few days to get it in his system and then taper off to regular dose.
Charlie's Mom started it last Sunday and she told me last night that she did some things yesterday that she hasn't been able to do for years because of her hip pain.
The difference in Nick (one of Jana and Charlie's dogs) is apparent to everyone who sees him. Before Synflex, we didn't think that Nick would be with us for very much longer because of his constant pain, and now he feels good. We do have to keep him from overdoing because he feels so good.
Another friend was considering having to put his baby to sleep and started her on Synflex and bought a second bottle last week and said that he thinks that the dog might have a few more years left on her old 13-year-old body.
Let me know if you see results in Toby as quickly as I've said.

An email about Straydog supporters working at the Texas Marathon on Sunday
Dear Straydog,
Just wanted to let you know that about 10 Straydog supporters will be working at mile 23 of the Texas Marathon on Sunday in Dallas. In exchange for us handing out water and cheering runners on, a donation of $400 will be made to Straydog. A description of Straydog is supposed to be included in the runner's handbook as well.
We'll be sure to take lots of pictures. And I can't wait to send the check!
Thanks so much,
Kelli S.
