Erin's Adoption Day Report ...

No adoptions yesterday but several potential adoptions pending

First, the man interested in possibly adopting either Emily or Shawna for his two-year-old daughter never showed up at PetsMart. Perhaps he decided on a puppy for the little girl and adopted a pup from someone else. We would appreciate it if people would call if their plans change so we can possibly alter our decisions on which dogs to take along to Adoption Day.

Many families were interested in many of the dogs this Adoption Day. We'll have to see if they come back next Saturday with their other dogs and move forward with the adoption process. We may have even met a family that is willing to foster a dog. Next week could be a record adoption week if some of these potential families come back and if everything works out.

A little girl gives Jordan a hug with Consuelo handling the sweet, gentle dog.

Puppies Holly and Grace with Volunteer Sheri

This young man is hoping to adopt one of these pups next Saturday.

Holly and Grace get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

Volunteers and dogs wait for the van to take them back to Straydog after Adoption Day.

April 2004 Newsletter

The following three pieces of our newsletter are being printed now.

Our mailing to the 2580 names on our mailing list will commence as soon as we receive the finished product from the printer, Merrill Corporation, who's donating the printing of the newsletter and the envelopes.

(1) April Newsletter, First 4-Pager

(2) April Newsletter, Second 4-Pager

(3) April Newsletter, a Front & Back 2-Pager

If you, dear reader, have a big enough list of people to pass out (or mail out) our newsletter to, you can simply call your local copy center (a Kinko's, for example) and tell them to go to this website (www.Straydog.org) and print out as many copies as you want of the three PDF files via the above three links. Then you can have the copy shop deliver the copies to you or you can go pick them up and do your own mailing of our three-piece newsletter. (And please never worry about the copyrights to our website materials. We want as many people as possible to make copies and distribute them!)

which show live still photos from five different cameras,
with alternating periods of still frames from Pat Arnold's 1998 video

The late Pat Arnold's
1998 Straydog Video

Still frames of Pat's 1998 video (without sound) can be viewed by clicking on this Webcam link. Whenever this tape is rewinding, this link leads to five rotating live cameras trained on various sections of our Straydog campus so you can keep an eye on what's going on here at Straydog. Our son, Joe, is in the process of securing an Internet "radio station" (which will cost Straydog Inc. only $15 per month), and Joe will have the streaming audio of Pat's tape "on the air" at night and audio from our walkie-talkie system "on the air" during the day. After the tape has been edited and copies are made (VHS or DVD), we'll be happy to send you a free copy. Just let us know if you'd like a copy, and please specify VHS or DVD.

Here are four still photos I pulled off the video by right-clicking on the captured still frames. We encourage viewers to do the same thing and email us any really good photos:

The above photos are stills pulled from Pat's video. At eight frames per second there should be approximately 57,600 such still frames on the two-hour tape, and every time the tape is replayed, an entirely new set of 240 different stills is captured and broadcast, a new frame every 30 seconds.

And we at Straydog continue to rescue, care for and adopt out homeless dogs exactly the way Pat would have wanted. Thank you so much for your continuing support! ... Bill Arnold
