EARLY MORNING UPDATE

Erin reports ...

Last evening's call from Dr. Reeves' wife gives us a very positive message

Dr. Reeve's wife said that Rocky was drinking water and had eaten a bucket of fast-food chicken faster than she could peel it off the bones! He ate a total of five pieces which was a record! He had also eaten a can of tuna earlier in the day, his first real meal since his surgery.

Rocky was sitting up when getting the IV treatments last night, and was alert and looking around.

Is the doctor giving him vitamins in the IVs? I asked.

Oh, yes. The colors of the fluids are pink and different colors, so I imagine there's lots of different vitamins and minerals he's getting, Mrs. Reeves said.

She told me that Rocky looks for the doctor now, when he hears his voice, or hears him coming. Mrs. Reeves also said that when Rocky's getting his IVs, she holds his paw, like you would hold the hand of a friend in the hospital. When she takes her hand away, Rocky "searches me out."

"He knows y'all love him!" I said, thankfully.

NOON UPDATE

Erin talked with Dr. Reeves about Rocky late this morning

The good news is that Rocky continued to drink water on his own this morning. The doctor and his wife are having to hand feed Rocky again as his appetite isn't as good as it was last night, but Rocky is regaining control over his bladder.

The biopsy of the spleen came back, and the results are not definitive, but most likely the spleen is not the root cause of Rocky's problems, the doctor said.

So, we still don't know why Rocky is sick. Tomorrow Dr. Reeves will take more blood for the lab to see how Rocky's liver is doing and to see if he's making red blood cells. The doctor is still continuing the supplements for possible cancer, the 'transfer factor', and herbs, and also the meds for tick disease, and the vitamins and minerals and supplements to boost Rocky's immune system and heart and circulatory system.

At least we know that Rocky wasn't eaten up with cancer inside! Maybe these supplements will help the old boy. Dr. Reeves said that we aren't out of the woods yet. It will be touch and go for the next five to seven days.

We hope and pray that Rocky will continue to improve. Thank you all for your prayers so far!

Email from Jana, Blind Chubs' mom, regarding Chubs' new accomplishment

Chubs has learned to lift his leg vs. squatting, and Summer has this on her list of "Rude things that Chubs does." He hit Milo full in the face last week on our walk and seemed to be very proud of himself. I'm sure that he will learn the dos and don'ts before long, and I don't know why he just started lifting his leg at age one and a half. Charlie says it's because Chubs is growing up. Just thought I would share this with you.
