NOON UPDATE

Rocky continues to improve, though he hates taking his meds

When he sees one of us coming with the little bowl of brown liquid with the crushed pills mixed in it and a small oral syringe sticking out of the bowl, Rocky turns and heads the other direction. But he takes his medicine, slowly, one squirt at a time, and when it's over, he drinks a half bowl of water before he settles back down for another snooze.

Rocky is so happy to be alive! His tail wags, and he even does his little play dance with his longtime partner and kennel mate, Ginger, when they're outside together for short periods in the yard.

Though it was expensive, I'm sure Pat would be very happy that we saved Rocky's life and are bringing him back to good health.

"Even the hot sun feels pretty good," says Rocky.

Erin and Tina are at Dr. Reeves' clinic in Tyler with six dogs this morning

Anthony and Leo are seeing the doctor about some patches of missing hair on their bodies; Tiger and Puppy Scooby are going for shots; and Toby and Angel are going for another acupuncture treatment for their bad legs and backs.

Erin will report when they return, and her report will be in tomorrow's update.

After the difficult writing of the past two days I'm working fast and furiously on the next newsletter, parts of which will come from the updates of the past two days

Our operations fund (which is our only fund) is running about three weeks ahead, which means we're approaching the "Panic Zone."

Bill,

Just a note to say you and your children have been on my mind. I was devastated when I read about Pat's death last year on the website. We had just gotten back from Gary's brother's funeral and I think I was more upset about Pat - I really admired her. She was a extraordinary woman and a mentor to so many. It may sound strange, but I could tell how much the dogs loved her when I visited. Your writing about her is so poignant and my heart breaks for you. I know Pat would be pleased and proud about how you and your children have continued her mission - your supporters certainly are proud. Thank you again. Pam

Thank you very much, Pam

Your email message means a great deal to me and Erin (and the rest of us here at Straydog). It makes us feel very good that you are proud of us and that you have confidence in us to carry on Pat's work. We shall never let you down. We shall never allow ourselves to stray even the slightest bit from Pat's course. All stray dogs will someday become lucky dogs!
