Katie once again says, "Not yet!"
The vote of all her caregivers yesterday was in favor of taking Katie on her last trip to the vet, but the old girl once again yesterday afternoon showed a spark in her behavior that lead Juana (who has a reverence for life equal to Pat's) and me to veto the consensus for at least another day. "She's not quite ready," Juana said, and I agreed.
It's a struggle and a lot of extra hard work taking care of an elderly dog like Katie, but that was as important a part of Pat's mission as taking in and caring for a litter of abandoned puppies.

The latest rescued litter of four abandoned Lab pups is doing fine
These little tykes (all girls) are as cute as can be (same as all pups), and they all seem to be fine and growing bigger every day. (This is the litter that our caregiver, Bobby, said he'd foster for a while as we had no room here, but after three days and nights Bobby realized that having four pups keeping his whole family awake all night, wasn't going to work out, so we squeezed them in here at Straydog.)

Fluffy has chewed a "hot spot" on her tail
The hot weather is beginning to cause "hot spots" on some of the dogs, and yesterday afternoon a call came over the walkie-talkie from Whitney, our newest part-time caregiver, who was in the park with Fluffy and Muffy, telling Juana that some medication was needed for a raw spot on Fluffy's tail. Unfortunately this sort of doctoring will have to go on all summer long.
