NOON UPDATE

Puppy Summer is taking her meds and holding her own against the Parvo Virus

The only food Puppy Summer has eaten in two days were four cookies Jason got the sick pup to eat in the middle of last night. The diarrhea has stopped but so have bowel movements altogether. The pup is sleeping a lot but seems to enjoy her potty walks outside the big fence in an area where none of the other dogs ever go, and everyone wears rubber gloves and a special shirt when handling Puppy Summer. We just have to wait and see if the little girl gets through this. We hope we'll have the same luck we had with Puppies Holly and Grace during their mild bouts with Parvo a couple of months ago. We also hope that Summer's three sisters don't come down with this often fatal disease.

Tina gives Puppy Summer her anti-Parvo meds.

Let us pray that this little one makes it through this illness!

Russell still won't eat his regular meals, but he'll take biscuits

Last evening when Russell refused to touch his second meal of the day, Caregiver Bobby tried a can of tuna fish and a different kind of kibble from the one he's used to, and he ate this bowl of food. Russell then skipped breakfast this morning but did eat a bunch of cookies after his visit to the park. Also Juana just reported at 11 a.m. that she tried a different kind of food again, and Russell ate every bit of it. We're going to assume at this point that Russell is okay.

Yesterday's vet visit to Dr. Reeves

   Toby and Angel

We saw Dr. Reeves again yesterday for more acupuncture for Angel and Toby. In the last week we have started other supplements for Toby, the Synflex (liquid glucosomine/chondroitin product) that Chubs and Cassie's mom and dad suggested, and also some other supplements for Toby's spine that Dr. Shawn suggested. Toby did seem to have a better week this week, not scratching up his feet so much while trying to walk. We still need to get the cart for Toby and have been printing out info, and today I will call the folks to find out more information.

During Angel's acupuncture we noticed a problem with her skin on her chest, and Dr. Reeves gave us a medicine for this. We also noticed a small tumor where her previous cancerous tumor had been.

   Molly

Molly also has two small hard tumors, and Anthony, who had a cancerous tumor removed from his jaw last August, has a couple of small hard tumors too on his chest. We will plan what to do next for these dogs in the next few days. The tumors will need to be aspirated or removed. Our Volunteer Consuelo is an oncologist. Should we see an oncologist, Consuelo?

   Puppy Scooby

Little Scooby has an infection in his anal glands. He may have been bitten by ants. Our vets have given us medicine to hopefully get the infection to go away. If it doesn't get better in a couple of weeks, little Scooby will have to go under light anesthetic and the doctor will need to go inside to clean and medicate everything! Poor little Scooby! But he's not licking or scratching at least!

Lucy will go to her new home tonight

Lucy is to leave Dr. Morton's tonight, after having been spayed Monday evening, and go to Caregiver Bobby's home for the evening. Jason will stop by tomorrow to see the home and the situation and make sure everything is okay for Bobby to adopt the dog. Lucy will have skin problems and eye problems perhaps her whole life, Dr. Morton said, because she is a part albino dog. Bobby can talk to the doctor tonight about this when he picks Lucy up.
