Puppy Summer's three sisters go to the vet for Parvo tests
We noticed more dark, runny stools in the puppies' kennel yesterday, so took all three pups to Dr. Morton's. The doctor tested the most lethargic puppy for Parvo, and the test came out negative, but Dr. Morton said there is a ten-day incubation period, and so the test isn't conclusive. This puppy did have hookworms even though we had wormed all the pups nearly two weeks ago, so the doctor gave us the antibiotics that will help Parvo and hook worms. Two of the puppies looked very lively and the doctor said that they don't look like they have Parvo. We'll continue to watch the three of them very closely.
Newsletters are printed, so I'm driving to Dallas to pick them up
In the no-kill dog shelter "business" the president of our non-profit corporation is also the pickup and delivery driver, and that's me, so I've got to cut today's update short and get on the road to Dallas (a drive of an hour and fifteen minutes each way). I've also got to get label stock and stamps, and I have to be back here by two o'clock so that Erin can leave for our regular Tuesday afternoon vet visit to Dr. Reeves' clinic in Tyler. (Juana's on her way back from Mexico, where she was visiting her sick mother, and she won't be back till this evening.)
Getting this newsletter in the mail ASAP has to be our number one priority right now, or we're sunk!
