NOON UPDATE

First batch of newsletters are in the mail

All night Tuesday and all day yesterday everyone who could find a spare moment here at Straydog was busy stuffing and sealing envelopes, and then affixing labels and stamps. Last night our overnight man, Jason, finished another thousand pieces, which will go into the mail this afternoon. Then we'll have one more big batch to finish up this evening, and the balance of the newsletters should be in the mail by Friday afternoon. Then we wait for the returns, hoping and praying our contributors continue to stick with us.

Puppy dog Jackson (about six months old) and Puppy Louise to be fixed today

When dogs go in to the vet clinic for any kind of surgery, they have to skip breakfast, of course, and it always makes us sad to see the looks on their faces when everyone all around them is getting fed, but no bowl is brought to them.

Michael dropped these two fellas off at Dr. Morton's early this morning. They'll be ready to pick up late this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

These are two more dogs who will not add to the overpopulation problem. Each of these two wonderful dogs could have added scores more dogs to the world, most of whom would have wound up homeless and would probably have been euthanized or met some worse fate. It's so simple.

Puppy Dog Jackson soon after he arrived last Sunday.

Coyotes yipping and screaming in the distance at sunset last evening

I've been told that coyotes make these extremely loud, frantic sounds after they've made a kill. And I wondered, "Was it a wild rabbit, or was it a homeless dog or puppy or cat or kitten?"
