SATURDAY JULY 24 2004

8:00 P.M. UPDATE

No adoptions today

Erin and Straydog Caregiver Michael got back a little before seven this evening with all the dogs who'd made the trip. No adoptions!

Shari Miller has Prince in her charge as a passer-by takes a look at the middle-age fellow who's been at Straydog for years.

The people who earlier in the week had asked us specifically to bring Prince never showed and never called, and after about an hour Prince, who hadn't been to Adoption Day since long before Pat died (because he had grown to hate all the stress and discomfort of the trip), became very cranky, growling at everyone, just as he had done before, which is why Pat had decided to discontinue taking him. Henceforth anyone interested in Prince will have to make an appointment to come out to Straydog to meet the fella.

There was interest again in Jackson, and the people said they'd try to make up their minds and would come back to PetsMart next Saturday to pursue the possible adoption further. Let's hope and pray something comes of this.

So everyone's back home safe and sound at Straydog. Juana had their dinner bowls ready, and each ate either in his or her travel crate while still in the van or just outside the van. We've been following this procedure for the dogs returning from Adoption Day because many have kennel mates still here at Straydog who would wonder why they weren't getting a meal if they saw their returning kennel mate being fed.

Jackson had already had his dinner in the van, but he couldn't pass by the stack of empty bowls without licking the top one
clean as Erin's was in the process of leading him to his kennel. Juany and her daughter, Lucy, are there
helping with the returning Adoption Day Dogs.
