5:00 P.M. UPDATE
It's almost September. It can't stay this miserable too much longer, can it? The dogs and caregivers are going through their routines with great lethargy. The air conditioning in my little RV is on full blast, and I'm writing this with my shirt off. It's almost four in the afternoon, and the sun's still almost straight up, as I start working on this update (late because I had a million things to try to catch up on since I spent most of the past two weeks in Dallas with my father, who suffered a stroke on August 16th). Daylight Savings Time is not a good thing for people (or animals) who suffer through the extreme heat of every afternoon just waiting for the relief we get when the sun finally goes down. There must be tremendous celebration at sunset in the minds of all the dogs in the outdoor kennels.

Erin and her husband, Dana, visited my dad this afternoon, and Erin called me after they left Dad's room to say that he is just about the same. His caregivers had had to sedate Dad during the night when he refused to settle down and stop trying to get out of bed, but today is was in fair spirits, Erin reported.
I'll be leaving Straydog early tomorrow to go back to Dallas (Plano really) to visit Dad.
